Flamborough Head 16th September 2020

A group of 11 golfers braved the very windy conditions on the clifftops at
Flamborough. It made the golf very challenging but all of the teams played well and scoring was close and competitive if not particularly high. The most important thing, as always, is that we all enjoyed a pleasant and sociable afternoon. The highlight was the lovely fish and chips followed by apple crumble. A thank you to the staff who looked after us really well.

1st Sean Chatterton and Ron Bray 42pts
2nd Ray Norman and Brian Roberts 39pts
3rd Barry Appleyard and Martin Stroud 36pts

Our next event is at Skidby Lakes Golf Club on the 9th October, meeting at 12.30 for a 1.30 tee off. Once again bacon butties and coffee before we start and a two-course meal afterwards. This will again be a better ball and I look forward to seeing another good turn out for our final away day

Cave Castle 19th August 2020

It was wonderful for our 12 intrepid golfers to brave the horrendous weather forecast to meet up for our first away day of this strange year. It was good to see so many of our regulars supporting the Golf Society. We met in the bar for our usual coffee and bacon butties, sorted the better ball teams out, and Chris made himself popular by taking money off everyone.

Teams went out expecting to play in the rain but fortunately the rain didn’t start until the final few holes and so we didn’t get too wet. The weather didn’t put a dampener on either our spirits or on the golf. There was some very good play and scoring was high and close. The most important thing, as always, is that we all enjoyed a pleasant and sociable afternoon.

1st Martin Stroud and Chris Holland 47pts
2nd Eric Jones and Phil Kendall 45pts (back 9)
3rd Geoff Lyon and Brian Roberts 45pts

Our next event is at Flamborough Golf Club on the 16th September, meeting at 12.30 for a 1.30 tee off. Once again bacon butties and coffee before we start. This will again be a better ball and I look forward to seeing another good turn out and a second enjoyable day.  Chris may have managed to arrange a meal afterwards, costs to follow.

Further details of this event will be posted at a later date.
I will look to see if I can a range a final day at Skidby Lakes sometime in October.
